Woman dies after two-vehicle collision on SH-191 in NE Odessa

ODESSA, TX — A 42-year-old Midland woman died last Thursday night after a crash that hurt another on State Highway 191 in northeast Odessa, reports CBS7.

The fatal wreck occurred in the 12800 block of East Highway 191 on June 30, shortly before 6:00 p.m.

An early investigation indicates a driver in a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche hit the back of a 2003 Mercedes after failing to control their speed.

The impact of the crash sent both vehicles into the retaining barrier.

Odessa Police confirmed the driver of the Mercedes died from her injuries at the scene.

Her passenger, a 90-year-old woman, also of Midland, suffered undisclosed injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The severity of her condition remains unclear.

No details on the driver of the striking Chevrolet Avalance have been shared at this time.
