UPDATE: Victims identified after fatal crash on SH-302 near West Odessa

ECTOR COUNTY, TX — Three people died Monday night after their vehicle was hit by a pickup truck on State Highway 302 near West Odessa, reports Your Basin.

The fatal collision occurred on a span of the highway at Farm to Market Road 1936, shortly after 9:00 p.m.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a man was driving a Ford F-350 pickup truck northbound on FM-1936. Shortly after he failed to yield to traffic at the intersection, he hit a Chevrolet Malibu heading westbound on SH-302. Witnesses said the impact of the crash caused the Ford to catch fire.

DPS confirmed three victims in the Chevrolet, including a 40-year-old New Mexico resident, a 27-year-old Big Lake resident, and a 35-year-old Dumas resident, all died from their injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Ford and his passenger were transported to Medical Center Hospital. The severity of their condition remains undisclosed.
