UPDATE: One killed, one injured in big rig crash on FM 1788 near Andrews
ANDREWS COUNTY, TX — A 54-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision on Farm to Market Road 1788 near east Andrews, reports CBS7.
The fatal wreck occurred about a mile south of State Highway 176 and was first reported by CBS7 at 2:43 p.m.
According to Department of Public Safety, an 18-wheeler veered out from its lane and entered the opposing lane. Moments later, it struck an oncoming Chevy Corvette head-on.
Authorities confirmed the driver of the Corvette died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews, but has since been released.
At this time, no details have been released regarding any pending charges.
An investigation remains ongoing.
