UPDATE: Man identified after fatal crash on I-10 in NW El Paso

EL PASO, TX — A 22-year-old man has been identified as the driver who died early Monday after a wreck on Interstate 10 in northwest El Paso, reports KFOX14.

The fatal wreck occurred on the westbound lanes near South Resler Drive at about 2:37 a.m.

According to the El Paso Police Department, the man was driving a 2005 Ford Mustang when the vehicle came to a complete stop on the interstate. Moments later, it was struck by a 2015 GMC Sierra driven by a 29-year-old woman.

The young man, a Vinton resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officials said the driver of the GMC and her passenger, a 23-year-old woman, both of Las Cruces, New Mexico, suffered undisclosed injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

It remains unclear at this time why the man’s Mustang came to a stop on the roadway.

An investigation by the EPPD’s Special Traffic Investigators was in progress.
