Pedestrian fatally hit by train on Rosa Ave near Central El Paso
EL PASO, TX — A man died late Friday night after being struck by a train in the Durazno area of Central El Paso, reports KTSM.
The fatal incident occurred in the 3600 block of Rosa Avenue on March 18, shortly after 10:30 p.m.
El Paso Police Department said a Union Pacific train with thirty cars was approaching the area westbound when operators spotted the man on the tracks. The train horns sounded multiple times as it began to stop. Authorities said the train was unable to stop in time and the pedestrian did not move out of the way, resulting in a crash.
EPPD Patrol officers and members of the Special Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene.
No further details have been disclosed at this time, but an investigation was in progress.
