Driver crashes into electric poles, causing outages in downtown Canutillo
EL PASO COUNTY, TX — Power outages were reported Monday afternoon after a crash damaged multiple electric poles in downtown Canutillo, reports KFOX14.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Talbot Avenue and Doniphan Drive shortly before 1:00 p.m.
Details are limited, but the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said several electric poles were knocked down in a collision. Businesses and households within a five-block radius were impacted.
A section of Talbot Avenue between Doniphan Drive and Second Street was shut down during the response. All westbound traffic was diverted from the scene and eastbound drivers were advised to take State Highway Spur 16 instead.
Officials said the road was expected to remain closed for up to four hours. Power was also projected to be restored within that time.
No injuries were reported in the event, and no further information has been shared.
