1 killed in hit-and-run collision on US-285 near Orla
REEVES COUNTY, TX — A 31-year-old Midland man died early Sunday after a crash involving a hit-and-run driver on U.S. Highway 285 near Orla, reports YourBasin.
The fatal incident occurred on a span of the highway at County Road 437, in an area southeast of the city. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the scene at about 1:00 a.m.
It was unclear what led up to the crash, but authorities said it involved an unknown vehicle that was heading eastbound on CR-432 near the intersection.
The victim died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed DPS.
Officials continue to search for the driver of the striking vehicle, who fled the site before aid arrived.
An investigation remains ongoing.
